Power of self-awareness

Self-awareness is a powerful and essential aspect of human consciousness. It refers to the ability to recognize and understand one's own thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and motivations. This self-reflective capacity allows individuals to gain insights into their own identity, strengths, weaknesses, and values. The power of self-awareness can be observed in various aspects of personal and professional development:  Image by  John Hain  from  Pixabay Personal Growth Self-awareness is a cornerstone of personal development. My thoughts on self help books

In my opinion, Self-help books are helpful. What I think many people does that, they read those books and do nothing. There is a huge gap between reading and applying those in life. Many of us fail in applying it. We just keep reading many books and do nothing. Self-help books are only helpful when we apply our learning in life. Photo by Brett Jordan on Unsplash We only need one self-help book. If we don’t change after reading the one it doesn’t matter how many more we read. Our life remains unchanged. I would say the books which are from the early 1950's are the ones you should consider reading. Modern-day books are mostly a copy or a combination of old books. And I don’t think they are overpriced. We have to accept the fact that self-help is a huge industry and we all need help. As the demand is high the price remains high.

How can individuals bring change to their lives?

"People rarely act unless compelled to" - The 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene                                                      Photo by  Brad Starkey  on  Unsplash To work on anything one should have a strong reason. It can be anything. And the reason will drive people to make changes in life. Our life task is to find the reason and work on it.  To bring change in life first one should have self-awareness. Some people by birth will have the drive to focus on a particular thing and work on it for their entire life. But many of us have no idea what to do with life. I was one among them. like everyone I was lost. Once I faced a difficult situation in life, I was forced to come out of that and my friend suggested to start reading and writing. In the beginning, I felt like quitting many times but there was a strong compulsion within that I have to overcome my current situation. and that was my driving force. I didn't read or write because I fell in love with that but I w

How do I stay positive during tough times?

In my opinion, One can stay positive during tough times by having hope, acceptance of reality, and detachment from emotions. Hope To believe that things will be ok very soon by expecting a light at the end of the tunnel. Acceptance of reality Life is the continuous occurrence of events that include good and bad times. As humans what we can do is manage those events and move further. We don’t have control over things that happens in our life. But we do have control over our reactions to those events. Consider life as a line in an ECG machine. If you are alive it goes up and down. If the line is stable, then you are dead. To live we have to face the ups and downs. Detach from emotions This is the most difficult part. Our decisions are mostly influenced by emotions. Even the most mentally strong people in history are forced to take action based on their emotions. Being able to think rationally is a skill everyone should develop. During hard times it's nearly impossible to view things

Compromise - A hidden agreement in every relationship

I remember this argument with a senior in college regarding compromises and adjustments in relationships. My argument was “There is no need to compromise or adjust anything in a relationship if both people know each other well”. She said, “ both people have to make compromises if they want to continue in the relationship, It’s an equal effort”.I was so ignorant and arrogant to admit or even consider my senior’s perspective. But then realized what she said when I got into a relationship years later. This happens to many of us. To begin with, many of us don’t know how to choose a partner. We Infatuate and start ignoring the red flags and try too hard to convince the brain that “this is the one”. What happens next is known to everyone.                                                  Photo by  Luke Chesser  on  Unsplash I believe every event in our life teaches us something new. Only those who believe “I know nothing” will see those learning. We must play the role of a student and an obse

Afraid of a career change, Try the skill first approach

Many of us are scared of taking or even thinking of this one decision "Career change". Most of us grew up without having the right direction. I believe that we all are unique. Each of us has at least one thing that makes us different from others. It can be empathy, mental strength, Intellectual ability, Sharpness, attention to detail, multi-tasking, communication skill, or problem-solving skill. It takes years of effort to master these areas but the first step toward becoming an expert is to identify one's area of interest.                                                                Photo by  Quino Al  on  Unsplash Without the right direction, we cannot master any skill and become an expert. Unfortunately, our educational system is not designed to help us find our unique talent. Finland follows a very different type of educational system which is now the world's best educational system and the reason is it is designed in such a way that a kid can identify their int

Why do people want to learn new things? What makes learning new stuff so special?

If we look deeply into our childhood memories, we viewed the world in a whole different way than now. We saw everything around us in great awe. We had no idea about the world around us. We kept asking questions until we got a convincing answer. By nature, we possess a creative force that constantly looking to make associations and connections between things and ideas. We were flexible and open to anything new. For instance, Imagine how we take decisions or find a solution to a problem. We simply try to connect the information we already have, which includes our experience, life lessons, sounds and images, books, media, etc. Before taking a decision subconsciously we consider all of the above. It's a natural process. And this is called creativity. Connecting the dots.                                              Photo by Tim Mossholder on Unsplash As a child, we always wanted to explore and discover new aspects of the world. But when we grow, the curiosity will reduce as our minds
